Have a glittery sequin top and not sure what to pair it with? Try velvet bell bottom pants. It's the perfect balance of luxe + laid back.

Most trends have a 20 year cycle, and bell bottoms are one trend that have cycled back from the 90's and 70's.  The origin dates back to the early eighteenth century when the U.S navy needed wider legged trousers to pull over their heavy deck boots.
Bell bottoms have been around for a few years now, and modern versions can been easily found in luxurious denim, velvet or printed bohemian designs.

When you're tired of squeezing into skinny jeans or having a hard time capturing that bohemian gypsy look, bell bottoms are a great must have.  They flatter just about any body type and make the legs appear longer, skinnier, and flatters our behinds too. The style to look for are the ones that hug your thighs all the way down to your knees and then flares out so dramatically that it covers the whole of your foot.

    1970's Bells

Bell-bottoms truly became regarded as fashion in the 1960's and 1970's when the pants resurfaced as part of the hippie movement. These free-flowing pants fit in with the hippie lifestyle and carefree attitude, and it wasn't long before the world of fashion caught on to the trend and began marketing bell-bottoms to the masses. The pants were popular choices for both men and women; men would pair polyester bell-bottoms with suit jackets and women would wear a high-waisted variation with tight blouses.

    1990's Bells

Bell-bottoms resurfaced in the mid-1990s and quickly adopted a slightly altered look (not flaring at the knee, but closer to the calf or ankle) and adopted the name boot-cut, drawing on the naval idea of a pant being able to fit comfortably around a boot.  Larger bell styles were a big trend with the youth club culture.

When shopping for bell bottoms, or if you're getting them tailored, be sure they hit the ground ever so slightly.
if you don't own a pair, it's time to be inspired and embrace the fun of le bell.what do you think? yay or nay.
